Volatility Ruled 2011; What Lies Ahead in 2012 - Eagle Asset Management

Posted by Gabriel F. Burczyk on 1/13/12 8:07 am

Eagle Asset Management recently held a roundtable discussion with many of their portfolio managers, each offering informed perspectives on the current market situation and potential investment opportunities. "Headwinds from 2011 are likely to continue into 2012, with new twists and opportunities. Volatility - while challenging in the short term - can create unique opportunities for long-term investors with a focus on business fundamentals, company specifics and a reasonable investment horizon. Ultimately, valuations matter and the current tone of negativity may present a reasonable environment for active, experienced investors."

Third Quarter Portfolio and Market Review - Eagle Asset Management

Posted by Thomas Wilson on 11/3/11 3:17 pm

Eagle Asset Management reviews the performance of their Small Cap Growth portfolio and the markets in their third quarter update. "The market was hit in the third quarter by a triple play that began with lower estimates of domestic growth, followed by the financial crisis in Europe and, most recently, growth forecasts slowing in China.  We believe the lower estimates in domestic growth and associated financial issues already have been discounted in the current pricing environment."

Anticipating a Positive Second Half 2011 - Eagle Asset Management

Posted by Michael O'Connor on 7/21/11 3:52 pm

Eagle Asset Management reviews their Small Cap Growth strategy and outlook on the markets in their second quarter 2011 commentary. "We view the selloff for the bulk of the second quarter as a normal correction in what we see as a positive environment for equities. We believe lower gasoline prices and a rebound in auto production following the earthquake in Japan should enable reasonable economic growth for the balance of the year. Continued government stimulus focused on reducing unemployment - sure to be a theme of the 2012 presidential election - also will be a plus."

Economic Recovery on Firm Footing - Eagle Asset Management

Posted by Valerie De Vol on 4/27/11 9:24 am

Money manager Eagle Asset Management's first quarter commentary for their Small Cap Growth and Mid Cap Growth portfolios is out and highlights the best and worst performing holdings. "The prospects of economic recovery appear to be on firmer footing and based more on corporations spending to meet last quarter's demand rather than anticipatory spending driven by rosy forecasting. Job growth is gradually improving. Average weekly work-hours have almost made their way back to pre-recession levels. With this slack gone, additional productivity needs should translate into new jobs."

Eagle Asset Management Sees Continued Growth Ahead

Posted by Michael O'Connor on 1/25/11 4:40 pm

Eagle Asset Management, a money manager based out of Florida, finds that "corporate America remains flush with cash; the bar for economic growth has been reset at lower levels; and investor sentiment remains generally pessimistic. With that said, a short-term correction - particularly in small caps - would not surprise us given the strength of the rally. However, we have no reason to believe most major indices won't show solid gains for the full year."

Eagle Asset Management - Market Commentary

Posted by Gabriel F. Burczyk on 1/21/10 1:28 pm

The role of the Federal Reserve during the past year and a half is dissected in this commentary from Eagle. The Fed has stepped out of its traditional role to help guide the domestic and international economies from the brink of a worldwide depression. Eagle believes the Fed has done a tremendous job in their navigation, and that they have restored the citizens’ faith in the economic system. Interest rates should remain at the levels they are currently at for the near future, as any rise would cause interest payments on reserves held at the treasury to increase.

Eagle Asset Management, Junk vs. Gems: Which Do You Want?

Posted by Gabriel F. Burczyk on 9/8/09 10:17 am

In Eagle’s latest money manager commentary, they explain what has been happening in the Small/Mid cap sector of the stock market since the March market lows. Low quality stocks have been out-performing high quality stocks. The stocks with the highest gains have been those with the lowest return on equity. These low quality stocks are not even expected to produce any earnings over the 12 months. Historically this has not been able to hold – since 1991 stocks that have produced earnings out-perform those that do not by about 300%.
